The need for drinking water in the community prompted Santos to be part of the Association of Health Promoters of the district of Asunción; For him, this service represents health for children and communities.
Santos begins his story by expressing: "Being a health promoter is an honorable position that seeks the benefit of the communities and challenges the promoter to seek improvements for the population. I will be a health promoter until God disposes of me because this is my vocation."
Before having drinking water, in La Rinconada, during the weight and height controls of the children, the health promoters recorded cases of chronic childhood malnutrition in the second degree (moderate) and third degree (chronic) in an approximate number of eight ( 8) to nine (9) children in one month. The promoter Santos mentions some causes that gave rise to these conditions: "Previously we drank water that we collected from the springs or the river, practically stagnant water because we stored it in our wells and because of this, our children suffered from malnutrition and diseases such as diarrhea and respiratory infections"; however, with the installation of drinking water things changed "malnutrition, diarrhea and respiratory infections decreased, children's health has improved considerably," concludes.
The health promoter, Santos, is convinced that drinking water ensures the health of children.

Santos says that, in his beginnings as a promoter, there was joint work between the health promoter and the directors of the Sanitation Services Administrative Board (JASS). The brief was to visit families to supervise good practices regarding home sanitation. Currently, Santos mentions, the health promoter has dedicated himself exclusively to preventive health issues (public health) and postponed joint actions with the JASS.
"It is necessary for the health promoter to resume coordinated work with the JASS and also with the schools; this way we would achieve healthy communities and families with the effort and commitment of everyone," Santos asserts.
Finally, he recognizes the efforts of various institutions in the district of Asunción that promote the development of communities and reiterates his commitment to working to promote healthy families and homes, with the same enthusiasm as always.
