For having water in the house, we are more than grateful

Dora and Samuel are a married couple who live in the Ampliación Villa El Sol community, in the district of Reque, department of Lambayeque (Peru). They have six children and five grandchildren who live in the city of Chiclayo, 30 minutes from Ampliación Villa El Sol.

Samuel is a man of few words and Dora, a very emotional grandmother. They both complement each other when they talk about the change that water brought to their lives.

Dora, start the conversation by saying "Years ago, when this area of Amplación Villa El Sol began to be populated, everything was a pampa-type terrain (open area). We and others, were the first to settle this area, we had to sleep here to take care of our little land".

Samuel looks thoughtfully at his wife and whispers "10 years and a little more have passed since all this, we also had to buy water for our living, the water carrier comes twice a week." In turn, Dora warns "Until now, my old man, because we already have water in the house and our old age from today on will be calmer, more comfortable and happier."

Samuel says that the house where they live was a gift from his children, who, upon finding out about the work for the drinking water system, surprised them with the improvement of the house.

The elderly couple states that their little house is a blessing, but the arrival of water, much more so. Finally, Samuel and Dora conclude "There is no greater blessing for people than having water in their home, and a shade (roof/house) where they can spend their days... Water is the main basis for life." Dora smiles and looks lovingly at her husband.
